PRESS RELEASE | The “Learning Without Seeing” program travels to the schools of Kalamata

PRESS RELEASE

Athens, 8 April 2025

Black Light brings the program "Learning Without Seeing" in 10 schools in Kalamata.

Following the success of the transfer of the "Learning Without Seeing" program to Heraklion, Crete, where over 2,000 children were trained on issues of familiarization with blindness and inclusion of people with disabilities, Black Light, with the support of the Ioannis F. Costopoulos Foundation, is traveling its program once again outside of Athens, and specifically to the Kalamata region.

This pioneering program has as its main purpose the familiarization of children with blindness, the cultivation of an inclusive mentality and by extension the fight against the phenomena of school exclusion of children with disabilities. It is a multi-sensory experiential workshop for children of all school levels, where students, among other things, put themselves in the shoes of a blind person by wearing shadow masks with which they are invited to move, communicate, play and learn. With this role reversal, children develop their empathy, cultivate their participation and creativity and develop the concept of solidarity and their critical thinking. The aim of this action is to visit 10 schools, elementary, middle and high schools in Kalamata.
