BLACK LIGHT, Office + Portraits

Black Light is a social cooperative enterprise founded in 2017 by blind people with experience in creating interactive events and customer service.
Its main purpose is the design and implementation of B2B educational services that create bridges between people with and without vision. In this way, we bring businesses closer to a category of customers whose habits they often seem unaware of.
At the same time, through our trainings and the tailor-made actions we design, we create jobs for people with disabilities.

Our team members are

Giannis Kapnias was born and raised in Nea Smyrni, Attica. At the age of 6, he was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes, which eventually led to the loss of his vision in 2005, at the age of 24. He then began to participate in various educational, cultural and sporting activities in the field of blindness. Initially, he was involved in the Paralympic Sport of goalball, as an athlete of the A.S.T. Homer team, with which he won 5 Greek championships while he also served as captain of the Greek National Team from 2007 to 2013, participating in European and World championships.
At the same time, he participated in the theater group of the Lighthouse of the Blind of Greece with which he presented many performances, two of which were based on his own theatrical scripts. Yiannis is a certified Braille instructor who has been teaching in adult classes since 2013. The same year, he began working as a tour guide in the interactive event Dialogue in the Dark and a year later he took on the role of the Project Operations Manager as a certified masterguide. In 2017, he founded, together with the group of blind tour guides of Dialogue in the Dark, the Social - Cooperative enterprise "Black Light" of which he is Co-founder & CFO. He has a daughter, Marilena or Marilou, 5 years old.

Chrysella Lagaria was born in 1981 in Athens and has been blind since birth.
She studied at the special Primary School for the Blind and then at the Arsakeio High School and Lyceum of Psychiko.
She then studied psychology at Panteion University and worked in various mental health structures and centers.
She has attended training in cognitive-behavioral and group psychotherapy, as well as seminars in speech therapy, sound engineering and radio production.
From 2013 to 2017, she worked as a Tour Guide, social media manager and tour guide trainer at the interactive event Dialogue in the Dark at the Badminton Theater.
Since 2017, she has founded, with a team of Dialogue in the Dark employees, the Black Light Cooperative, of which he is Co-Founder & CEO.
She has volunteered at the Museum of Touch of the Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece as a project promotion manager and from 2017 to 2024 she was project manager and board secretary at the voluntary organization Reading for Others.
Since 2022, he has co-presented with Thodoris Tsatsos, the podcast “We're Living, Hey!” on lifo.gr.

Dimitra was born in 1985 in Nea Smyrni, Attica. She graduated from a technical high school in the field of hairdressing, which she worked in professionally for ten years as a store manager. Later, she worked in the entertainment industry in the largest theaters in Athens such as the Foundation of the Hellenic World and the Badminton Theater, where she was responsible for school activities at Dialogue in the Dark for two years.
At the same time, she has been trained in the tourism professions and has a degree in English. She lives in Agios Dimitrios, Attica, is married and the mother of one child.
She is a founding member of Black Light and is responsible for communication and coordination of school activities.

Thodoris Tsatsos was born in Athens in 1987 and has been blind since birth.
He completed the special elementary school for the blind in Kallithea and graduated from the 8th Lyceum of Amarousi.
He then studied at the Athens School of Law and Psychology at Panteion University.
He then trained in counseling and life coaching.
He began working as a psychologist and at the same time developed an intense artistic activity by writing short stories and participating in bands as a lyricist and performer. He has been a founding member and vice president of the voluntary organization "Reading for Others" from 2015 to 2024.
In 2019, his first book, entitled "Out of Sight", was published by Evmaros Publications.
Since 2019, he has been an active member of Black Light as a speaker at educational seminars and communications consultant.
Since 2022, he has co-presented with Chrysella Lagaria, the podcast “We're Living, Hey!” on lifo.gr.

Ο Αντώνης Καραμήτσος γεννήθηκε το 1982 στην Καισαριανή και από μικρή ηλικία
διαγνώστηκε με μια σπάνια πάθηση που προσβάλει τον αμφιβληστροειδή χιτώνα του
ματιού και γιαυτό το λόγο έχει μειωμένη όραση.
Πήγε σχολείο στην Καισαριανή και σπούδασε σε τεχνική σχολή για ψυκτικούς και ως
χειριστής τηλεφωνικών κέντρων και εξυπηρέτησης πελατών.
Σε ηλικία 25 ετών άρχισε να ασχολείται με τους παραδοσιακούς χορούς και μετά από
ανάλογη εκπαίδευση και πιστοποίηση είναι ο πρώτος στην Ελλάδα χοροδιδάσκαλος με
απώλεια όρασης.
Τα τελευταία 2 χρόνια διδάσκει παραδοσιακούς χορούς στο Φάρο Τυφλών και είναι μέλλος
της Black Light με δραστηριοποίηση στην εισήγηση σεμιναρίων και στις σχολικές δράσεις
